CALAIS NO BORDER CAMP 23-29 JUNE

The Calais No Border camp is a joint venture between French and Belgian
activists and migrant support groups and the UK No Borders Network. It aims
to highlight the realities of the situation in Calais and Northern France;
to build links with the migrant communities; to help build links between
migrants support groups; and lastly, but not least, to challenge the
authorities on the ground, to protest against increased repression of
migrants and local activists alike.

This camp calls for the freedom of movement for all, an end to borders and
to all migration controls. We call for a radical movement against the
systems of control, dividing us into citizens and non-citizens, into the
documented and the undocumented.

Sicherheitsarchitekturen einstürzen!

Seit Ende des letzten Jahrtausends findet innerhalb der EU ein Umbau der „Sicherheitsarchitektur“ statt, der durch die Anschläge des 11.

September 2001 in den USA nochmals beschleunigt wurde. Sichtbare Phänomene sind z.B. die Verschränkung innerer und äußerer Sicherheit, ein „Pooling“ von Verfolgungsbehörden und Nachrichtendiensten und ein vereinfachter Datenaustausch.

Auf technischer Ebene werden wir konfrontiert mit neuen digitalen Überwachungskameras, Satellitenbeobachtung, Biometrie, Drohnen, Software zur intelligenten Suche in Datenbanken und neuen, breitbandigen Netzen zur Verwaltung dieser immensen digitalen Datenflut.

Neue Institutionen und Behörden wurden geschaffen, darunter das „Europäische Polizeiamt“ Europol, die Polizeiakademie CEPOL, die „Grenzschutzagentur“ Frontex oder der „Ausschuss für die operative Zusammenarbeit“ aller polizeilichen Einrichtungen der EU samt ihrem geheimdienstlichen Lagezentrum. NO BORDER LESVOS (GREECE) 2009

Repression has no place in our boat…

In the last few years the island of Lesvos has represented one of the main entrance gate for thousands of refugees and migrants seeking to reach Europe. Packed in tiny plastic boats they try to cross the sea border between Turkey and Greece but some of them can’t make it. More than 1.100 migrants and refugees have lost their lives that way in Aegean sea the last 20 years.

The Hellenic Coast Guard, following the european and greek policies of „prevention of entrance“ violates the rights of the refugees and put their lives in danger. At the same time, though, its activities are supported by Frontex, whose first boat started operating on the island in July 2008. Recently Frontex’s officials started interviewing / investigating refugees and migrants in Pagani (Lesvos). Continue reading →
